“Chartering beats any large cruise ship!! Love the personal attention and drinks are included!”
Your yacht becomes your home during your week at sea. Therefore, there are many things to consider before selecting your yacht and crew: the different people’s needs and interests in your group, your budget, the dates you can travel and, of course, your desires. Do you prefer the tranquility and excitement of a sail boat or the ease of a motor yacht? If you’re up for the sail, is a mono-hull or a multi-hull right for you? What about luxury vs. speed…? Perhaps you need a vegan or kid-friendly chef or an on-board sommelier?
Yacht Charters are based on the the industry standard of 8 day / 7 nights. In other words, yacht’s schedules, prices, itineraries, menus, etc. are all planned accordingly. Some yachts welcome longer charters but shorter charters are only accepted upon special request.
We are here to ensure you understand the pros and cons of your options, and to guide you through the process as you select the best yacht and crew combination for your group’s unique needs. You can explore many yachts and crew virtually below. Better yet, contact us for special offers and our preferred yachts and crew.
Sailing catamarans (multihulls) are our most popular yacht choice for charters. If you wish to combine the pleasures of sailing with a stable platform, outstanding performance and comfort plus ample space inside and out for passengers, then catamarans are your best bet. The wide beam from the twin hulls provides an excellent amount of living space, exceptionally detailed deck space, added privacy and cabins with en-suite bathrooms.
The shallow draft allows them to venture into shallow coves and beaches. Multihulls have splashed onto the sailing scene in the last decade earning mass appeal among sailors and non-sailors, alike, and particularly among those new to chartering, families travelling with young children and corporate charter groups.
Keep in mind that catamarans are the best option for large groups, as they are ideal for what the industry refers to as “tandem charters”. “Rafting up” (being tied together) allows us to accommodate large groups on several yachts with the freedom to mingle easily from yacht to yacht. For groups traveling together with different budgets, this options provides a simple solution.
Motor yachts are renowned for glamour and luxury. High-end vacation touring on motor yachts offers 5-star service, luxurious amenities and facilities, formal dining options, spacious cabins and often an increased number of crew to provide a seamless charter experience. The powerful engines allow guests to explore a wide range of islands at graceful speeds, with comfort and exclusivity. Any beach, bar or reef can be discovered in very little time.
Motor yachts are perfect for those that desire the utmost mobility, luxury, stability and space. A charter on a motor yacht tends to be more expensive than on a sailing yacht because of the fuel consumption, the high-end service and availability.
Monohulls are classic sailing yachts. They’re the perfect option for traditionalists. Monohulls are boats with a single hull and therefore very responsive to the wind, and perfect for those wishing to learn to sail or increase their sailing knowledge. Take the helm or ride the rail and feel the true power of the wind as the yacht heels over when sailing. Monohulls are known for smooth, exquisite lines that provide authentic, exhilarating sailing experiences.
Single hull sailing yachts are often more affordable and popular for anniversary, honeymoon, small group and couples charters. Blu Charters represents a broad range of monohulls to suit a variety of budget preferences.

Most crewed yachts offer all-inclusive charter rates. Charter fees typically include the costs for the Captain & Chef/Host, three meals aboard each day with wine, snacks, full ship’s-bar (including cocktails, beer, wine and sodas), water toys, cruising permits, fuel and all on-deck amenities. Insurance for the yacht for marine risk and third party claims and the crew for employer’s liability insurance is also typically included. Additional charges for all-inclusive yachts can include communications upgrades, optional marina berthing, crew gratuities, meals taken ashore, rental of special equipment and other activities.
It is essential to keep in mind that crew gratuities are not included in the charter price. A gratuity of 15% – 20% is customary. Though this may seem like a significant amount on top of the charter cost, it is a substantial portion of crew’s income, and incentivizes crew to deliver exceptional service. Please remember that your crew work hard to ensure your vacation is a great one that will be remembered forever. Blu Charters can include the gratuity in the charter fee for people that are not accustomed to the industry or regional culture regarding gratuities.
